5 Essential Components of an Effective Funnel

You’ve found a product on Warrior + or JVZoo and you want to set up a sales funnel. If you haven’t done it before, you may be a little confused or uncertain about the way to proceed. So let’s take a look at the different parts of your funnel and how to put it together.

Now, there is a little bit of variance in how different people handle their funnel. Still, there are essential components that should always be included. We can look at them one by one.

The Lead Magnet/Freebie

Your funnel needs to start by attracting people. One of the easiest ways to get someone’s attention is to offer them something. Typically, you can begin your funnel by giving out some sort of freebie. A popular choice would be an e-book of some sort, or perhaps some video content. Really, though, you can use your imagination and offer anything that you think provides value to your potential customers. Try to keep it in line with the product you are promoting. If your product focuses on how to make money online, you may want to offer an e-book. This e-book will show them how to increase  their site’s traffic.

You can advertise this on social media, with Facebook being a popular choice. When someone sees your ad offering something for free, they can click on it. Then your link will bring them to the first page of your funnel.

This first page should suggest a problem that the reader may be having, and offer a solution (your e-book!) on how to fix it. To continue the example from above, you might suggest that the reader needs more traffic, and then point to your e-book as having the answer to their needs. Explain how it can be of benefit to them and what it will do to help, but keep it vague enough that they will want to know more without already knowing too much. Give an excellent call to action to get them moving in the right direction.

Once you have managed to gain their attention, there are two ways to proceed. Your page could include a capture form, which will let them sign on to your mailing list right away. Another option is that your link leads to another page, with text along the lines of “almost there! Just enter your name and email below so that we know where to send your FREE e-book!” In this case, the second page will have the capture form where they can sign up.

How do you make these forms?

Your capture forms will come from your autoresponder. We use TrafficWave, but whatever you are using, they will give you the code necessary to add the form to your page.

The Tripwire

This may or may not be part of your funnel, and if you are new to building funnels, you may not even be familiar with it.

A tripwire is also known as a loss leader or entry product. It is a low-cost item that is immediately consumable. This means that it will be delivered instantly, or almost so. The purposes it serves are to gauge interest on a product or topic and then turn leads into paying customers, and more.

Email Series

After signing up via your capture form/ page, a visitor to your site is added to your email list on your autoresponder. What will follow then, is a series of emails intended to build a relationship with them. You can use these emails to introduce yourself, offer other free items, tools, and advice, and ultimately to suggest the product you are selling.

People are much more likely to purchase from those that they feel they can trust. Your email series will be all about gaining that trust by legitimately offering them something of value. Give them the help they need, provide free goods that can be of benefit t them, and then you can make suggestions regarding the product you are selling.

The Product

In one of your emails, you can direct the reader to your chosen product. You can do this by either sending them to a review or by sending them to the product’s actual sales page, using your affiliate link. While either may be valid, sending them to a review page will likely help if they have grown to trust you and your opinion.

Products typically come with one or several bonuses, and you can create a new capture page asking buyers where to send these bonuses. By signing up here, you can add them to a second list, which is comprised of known buyers. For this, you will need to create the page and then add the URL to the link details at Warrior+ or JVZoo.

Upsell

Immediately following a purchase is when someone is most likely to spend again, as they are in the buying mindset. You can avail yourself of this by suggesting your upsells. These are products that build upon or add further value to what they just purchased.

Some people hesitate to do upselling, but there is no reason not to. Provided that you are adding legitimate value for your customer. Given that these offers tend to be more expensive, they can be an essential source of additional income.

Building an excellent working funnel can take lots of work and a bit of refining as you go along.
